Abda

Abda is a very small village which has evolved in the traditional Palestinian style. Achingly old stone houses speckle the grassy slopes, with dry stone walls cutting their way through thick olive groves. This peaceful, quiet village has just the one shop, selling fresh produce from the surrounding fields including watermelons and delicious figs. There is a stone-cutting factory which employs many of the village’s residents. Abda is located in the Hebron governorate, nearby Al Fawar refugee camp and the town of Yatta.

What To Do

Abda is a pleasant village and easy to explore on a short walk or drive. While nearby Hebron is a remarkable, historic city still smarting from decades of conflict and political tension but well worth a visit.

Where To Eat

Fresh produce, snacks and cold drinks can be purchased from shops and stalls in Dura and Yatta, while there are also small restaurants serving up traditional Palestinian fare such as shawarma, falafel and hummus. But the Hebron neighbourhood of Ras al-Jora is the place to find a multitude of restaurants.

Where To Stay

Dura is just 11km southwest of Hebron, where there are four hotels. Alternatively, there is a great range of accommodation in Bethlehem, Jerusalem or Ramallah.
