Al Ramm, Palestine

Al-Ramm

Al-Ramm is situated next to the famous Qalandia checkpoint, which has been the site of many conflicts. It was traditionally an important economic hub, sat atop a hill with olive groves, vineyards and other agriculture surrounding it. Nowadays, Al-Ramm is a very different place, part of the built-up urban area north of Jerusalem.

The separation barrier restricts residents from visiting East Jerusalem and nearby villages for any reason, be it work, education or visiting family. However, it is still an industrial and lively place, almost the size of a small city.

Population: 25,595 (2006)
