Maythalun

The largest town in the Sanur valley, Maythalun boasts both quaint stone streets and an economic hub. The town is nestled between fields of crops and mountains draped in olive groves, 26km south of Jenin, the governorate capital.

There are four mosques, with the oldest found – unsurprisingly – in the heart of the picturesque old town. The surrounding streets are home to a varied collection of old houses, stone walls and partial ruins.

Maythalun also has six schools, two nurseries, four pharmacies, two clinics, a bank, a police station and an office of the Ministry of Interior. On top of that, residents enjoy the four internet cafes, three bakeries and two cultural centres. It’s fair to say that Maythalun attracts many people from the other villages in the valley.
