Jiljilia

Jiljilia may be a relatively small village but the houses of its residents are quite spectacular. It is clearly the domain of some of Palestine’s wealthiest people, with many having lived previously, or simultaneously, in the USA. Jiljilia is essentially a smaller version of nearby Turmus ‘Ayya.

The large, modern villas are spread over a hill with great vistas, while olive trees and stone walls mark out boundaries. Apart from the almost palatial villas, there isn’t much more in Jiljilia other than a big mosque and a few grocery shops. In one small corner of the village exists the remains of some old stone houses at the edge of a car park, which has a sycamore tree protruding out of its centre.
